Healesville Sanctuary is non-for-profit organization. It was created to fight Australian animals’ extinction in nature. Therefore, they are successfully breeding most of the native animals in the park.
Also, the dedicated staff is working together with supporters and visitors. So, they all try to minimize the threats taking place in real nature of endangered wildlife.
If you like to see Australian animals, birds, and reptile in their own habitat areas of bushland, Healesville Sanctuary is the best place to visit.
Wildlife Tours + Melbourne wine tour
Healesville Sanctuary is just in 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne city. Firstly, we are to visit the animal park in the heart of Yarra Valley close to the town Healesville. The park is located on 32 ha in the countryside.
Healesville Sanctuary demonstrates you natural bushland areas of habitats for most of the Australian animals. You can enjoy here dingos, kangaroos, wombats, koalas, echidnas, platypus and many others. On top of that, you can see native birds and reptile. There are more than 200 of various birds species in the park.
Healesville Sanctuary was opened in 1934. The park has a long history of success in breeding native animals. It has bred a platypus! The only two Zoos in Australia succeeded in that program. One is Healesville Sanctuary. The other is Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
Secondly, after wildlife tour in the park, we will continue our Melbourne wine tour. We will visit 3-4 most famous wineries in Yarra Valley. There we will have a lunch and lots of wine tasting.
Finally, we are to be back in the City around 6-7 pm.
